
Victim Of ‘Funeral’ Scam Warns Southern Idaho Shoppers
A report of a scam has surfaced out of southwestern Idaho involving a group of men approaching people in a shopping center parking lot and asking for financial assistance.
A Boise-area man took to social media over the weekend to warn other Idahoans about a scam that was pulled on his wife in front of a popular market. Three men reportedly approached the woman and asked for money to help with personal matters. Unfortunately, money was given to them.
On Sunday (October 19), a man posted to the Reddit / Idaho website about 'scams in the Treasure Valley.' The incident reportedly took place in front of the Trader Joe's in Meridian, 12 miles west of Boise.

A Sunday post to Reddit from someone identifying as 'Less-Good-6885' was a lengthy paragraph detailing an incident in Meridian where his wife was cornered by three men in a shopping center parking lot on Eagle Road.

The group of men told the female victim they needed money for a 'deceased cousin's funeral,' according to the post. She offered them $10 toward the alleged service, and gave out her debit card information. She was reportedly scammed for an additional $2000, according to the story.
There was more than 50 responses from area Idahoans regarding the alleged crime. No descriptions of the men were given in the Reddit post.
If you are approached by someone asking for money in a public setting, do not give out any personal debit or credit card numbers.
