Singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty, best known for performing the 1970s hits "Baker Street" and "Stuck in the Middle With You," has died at the age of 63 after battling an undisclosed illness. From Billboard:

Rafferty's family confirmed that he died peacefully at home this morning.

The Glasgow, Scotland native came to prominence as a member of the folk group the Humblebums before joining soft rockers Stealer's Wheel, who released "Stuck in the Middle with You" in 1972. Rafferty cut his first solo album, "City to City," in 1978, which spawned the singles "Right Down the Line" and "Baker Street."

The singer, who suffered from alcoholism in later years, released his last album, "Another World," in 2000. After living in California, Rafferty moved to Ireland in 2008.

"You used to think that it was so easy...you used to say that it was so easy..." Whether you knew it was Gerry or not, when this one's playing, no one changes the station or clicks to the next cut. The saxophone/guitar interplay wonderfully, and the vocal is sweet. Thanks Gerry.
