‘Grown Ups 2′ Posters Promise an Unbearable Experience
'Grown Ups 2' actually exists and there are now two new posters to prove it. Despite being critically reviled, 'Grown Ups' made $162 million at the box office, making it one of Adam Sandler's highest-grossing films. Although it's hard to imagine anyone wanting a sequel (did anyone really like the first one?), the second outing of the man-children played by Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade is set to hit theaters this summer.
Although you wouldn't expect something particularly artistic from the one-sheets for an Adam Sandler comedy, both of the posters are an eyesore, the kind of thing that would draw your attention in a movie theater lobby not because they're striking, but because their abuse of Photoshop is a crime against graphic design. The first one in particular is a nightmare, slapping images of the four principle cast members in front of a massive and ugly logo. We'd like to imagine that they're falling to their deaths, but they appear to be having too much of a good time. The second poster's main crime is being painfully generic at best.
Although we still don't believe that the 'Grown Ups' franchise has a dedicated fanbase of any kind (because how could it?), it's hard to imagine even the most dedicated Sandler/James/Rock/Spade fan being okay with one of these hanging on his wall. 'Grown Ups 2' opens on July 12th.
UPDATE: The second 'Grown Ups 2' poster has been removed upon learning that it's not an officially approved one sheet. Stay tuned for the latest updates as they become available.
