SHOSHONE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Monday evening Shoshone Police responded to the report of gunshots being fired.

Interim Police Chief Dan Lewin said officers were dispatched to 315 South Beverly St. in Shoshone. When they arrived, they discovered the suspect who was identified as Trenton James Oneida, 27, of Hailey, had left the scene.

Witnesses provided police with a description of the vehicle Oneida was driving. They told police that the suspect had fired a handgun several times following a verbal argument with another person.

Oneida was located a short time later north of Shoshone where he was arrested and is set to be charged with aggravated assault and potentially faces another charge. Police say no one was injured.

Oneida is being arraigned in court Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Jerome County courthouse.
