Idaho Sex Offender Jailed For Taking Pics Of Women In Fred Meyer

A convicted sex offender has been taken into custody in southeast Idaho after video cameras in an area Fred Meyer store verified he took photos of women in the store's changing room without their knowledge.

Michael Pilgrim, 45, of Pocatello, was arrested on December 17 at a Golden Corral restaurant after police approached him with evidence regarding his involvement a few days prior in the illegal picture taking of women at an area Fred Meyer, according to details shared by localnews8.com.

The incident resulting in Pilgrim's arrest took place on December 12, 2019, after two women attempted to confront him after discovering he was taking photos of them in the store's fitting room. Pilgrim was allegedly photographing them from under the changing room doors.

Video footage reviewed by police officers confirmed Pilgrim's involvement. He was taken into custody by the Bannock County Sheriff's Office. It turns out the man was also arrested previously by authorities for failing to register as a sex offender following a 1999 incident in Utah. He was sentenced to a year and a half in prison in March of 2019 for his failure to do so.

Pilgrim was being detained for video voyeurism for his actions at the Fred Meyer store, before being released under the supervision of his probation officer. No information on a scheduled court date regarding the December 12 incident at Fred Meyer has been made public.

Video voyeurism can carry a punishment of jail time and a fine, according to Idaho law Section 18-6609.
