Idaho Transportation Department Invites Public Input on Hailey Plan

HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX) – The state's transportation officials are seeking public comment now for a project that is still two years away.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) said it would like to receive public input about plans to rehabilitate Idaho Highway 75 in Hailey, otherwise known as Main Street, between Fox Acres Road and Cobblestone Lane.

ITD explained in a news release:

The project will rehabilitate the pavement and upgrade pedestrian crossings to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards, which is important to Hailey’s economy. ID-75 also connects tourists to the Sun Valley/Ketchum resort area, which draws visitors from all over the world. Fixing the deteriorated pavement in 2021 will extend the life of the roadway for many years.

Although the project is still a couple of years away, the department said it is important to get public comment now because the project will affect a lot of people once it begins.

“We understand that this improvement project will impact a lot of people, including local businesses, visitors, commuters, and adjacent residents, and we want to help minimize that impact where we can," ITD Project Manager Steve Hunter said in a statement. "Hearing from the public now will help us develop a solid plan for construction.”

Residents and others may comment at an upcoming open house, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Minnie Moore Room at the Hailey Community Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to "review possible phasing options, and give feedback on potential night work, which would entail driving on gravel surfaces during daytime hours."
