Investigators Determine Challis BLM Office Fire Not Criminal
CHALLIS, Idaho (KLIX) Investigators say they couldn't find any sign of a criminal act after a fire severely damaged the Challis Bureau of Land Management office.
According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), after an on-scene investigation the cause was ruled undetermined without any indication it was criminal. A blaze started in a shop area of the offices and significantly damaged the building. The fire was reported at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The ATF says the building is a total loss leaving 25 employees without a place to work. No one was injured by the fire. The extent of the damage is not known, but it is estimated to be in the millions.
