TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) The city of Twin Falls is now charging visitors an entry fee into Shoshone Falls Park and Dierkes Lake.

The city announced today the seasonal $3 entry fee is now being charged during the day to access the falls and will continue through the summer until September. The fee covers the cost to maintain the park and provide life guards at the lake.

Those wishing to visit the park on a regular basis can buy a season pass for $25 that is good for the whole year. The season pass can be purchased at the ticket booth at the park or from the Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department on 136 Maxwell Ave.  The season pass must be permanently placed on a vehicle.

The falls have been running around 18,000 cubic-feet and is expected in the coming weeks to surpass 20,000 cfs. With higher flows the city is anticipating more visitors. They ask people to follow these recommendations:

  •  If possible, please car pool to alleviate vehicle congestion
  •  Be patient and slow down while driving
  •  If possible, visit the park on a weekday when there are fewer visitors
  • Please discard all trash in the trash or recycle bins
  • Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times

During the high flows the city says it has closed the boat ramp above the falls. The river has crested over the safety barrier and has submerged buoys that indicate the danger zone.
