Passwords and Emails in the Golden State Could Be Compromised
Passwords are meant to keep important and personal things secure. They are intended to protect your computers, your emails, your work stuff, your phone, and things that you don't want others to see. Technology can be a great thing and used to secure important information, but at times, it can also backfire and reveal all of your important and secret information. Californians no longer feel like their passwords protect their valuable information and that online security is failing them because many have been compromised.
Managing Online Passwords in California
Passwords can be be useful, but they can be frustrating as well when having to change them and with all the guidelines to creating them. A recent study came out on hostingadvice.com revealing how people truly feel about passwords and online security. Of those surveyed, 65 percent revealed that they struggle to remember their passwords. On average most people revealed that they have 17 passwords that they have to remember. When it comes to remembering these passwords, 55 percent said that they use a password manager, 56 percent said they rely on memory, 29 percent have it written down in a notebook, and 24 percent have them saved in a digital document.
Using Passwords and Online Security in California
When it comes to all the passwords that Californians have to keep, 31 percent expressed frustration in having to remember all of them. Perhaps the most frustrating part is having to change all of these passwords frequently and 24 percent agreed it is frustrating, with 21 percent expressing frustration with complex password requirements. One of the main frustrations is that passwords are still getting compromised, despite having to jump through all these hoops, with 43 percent saying they have had them compromised. Only 60 percent of people feel like their passwords are secure.
It can be annoying to constantly change passwords, come up with so many, and the requirements to make new ones, only to have them fail.
