Christmas Time Has Arrived in Idaho Already: Is It Too Soon?
The calendar hasn't flipped to September yet, and already holiday shopping is consuming stores. It used to be that Halloween waited until mid-September to pop up in stores, and Christmas didn't start until the day after Thanksgiving. Still, as time has passed, more and more businesses are putting out holiday shopping earlier and earlier. Some stores have holiday decorations up year-round. It might still be months away, but Christmas shopping has arrived in the Magic Valley, and here is where you can start if you can't wait.
Christmas Shopping in Twin Falls
With the weather being where it is, it is tough to think about Christmas, but some stores are trying to get their customers focused on the holiday season already. As written recently, Hobby Lobby has already pulled out some of its decorations, but they are a store that commonly has a few Christmas things out all year. Another store has joined the trend though, as Costco has already begun putting out some Christmas decorations. They already have out some advent calendars, Christmas trees, wrapping paper, and lights. With Halloween still two months away, and Christmas two months after that, how soon is too soon?

At some point it is far too early to be thinking about the holidays, and one can argue that now is that time. Technically it is still summer, with Labor Day still not even happening until this weekend. When it is in the 80s and 90s, it is too warm to be thinking about Christmas wrapping paper, lights, and a tree. While putting some things out isn't the worst, nobody is actively looking for a Christmas tree, real or artificial, this time of year. Unless they are significantly discounted, odds are Christmas decorations are filling space in a store, and unlikely to move right now. If now is too soon, when should these items be put out in stores?
Yes, some think it should be Christmas all the time, but that would be overkill and make the holidays less special. The anticipation is part of what makes the holidays as magical as they are, and if it is happening for four months, it could water down the holidays and cause Christmas fatigue for those in the Magic Valley. Will you be shopping for Christmas this early, or do you think it is too soon? If you can't wait, Costco is the place to go for your way-too-early holiday shopping needs.
