Anytime a phone rings, a text message comes through, or an email enters your mailbox and you don't recognize the number or email address, your first instinct is to assume you are being scammed. Sadly, society has gotten to this point, but most are on high alert at all times these days, and usually, it is justified. This is why so many ignore phone calls, texts, and don't respond to emails. Most typically know these days that when a number calls your phone that you don't recognize to ignore it unless it is from your area code. Some will answer all phone calls, paranoid that someone reaching out to them has a reason for calling. By answering these numbers you set yourself up for more potential scams, and there is one happening right now that seems legit and is fooling many in Idaho, Washington, and Utah. Many residents have been receiving calls that appear to be from their health insurance or health companies that seem friendly and begin asking questions. The call seems routine, which is why it is convincing and easy to fall for, but these calls have ill intentions and are not what they appear.

While these calls may seem legitimate, it is smart to remember that insurance companies typically will not call and ask personal questions on the phone. If in doubt, it is best to hang up on the call and then call your insurance company directly to see if they are making calls.
