Teenagers Could Die in Twin Falls If They Keep Doing This
We all remember what it was like to be a teenager. We did things we likely regret, we may still get anxiety thinking back on some of the things we did, and we may also remember some good times as well. Being a teenager can be one of the most stressful times in life, but it can also be one of the most exciting. You typically don't have to work a full-time job, you have friends, you get to be a part of some fun activities, and life truly is more enjoyable. While some of us complained back then, most likely, most of us would prefer to go back to those days and not have to be an adult. Teenagers aren't the smartest, though, and some in Twin Falls could die if they don't stop doing one stupid thing.
Beware of Teens in Twin Falls
Teenagers are often distracted and don't think of the consequences when they act. They are narrow-minded and usually only think about what is happening in the moment. That type of thinking could cost a teen or two their life in Twin Falls. For anyone who drives down Cheney Drive, between Walmart and Canyon Ridge High School, you may notice around noon that many teenagers leave campus to go to Walmart or one of the eating establishments in the area. This is a common occurrence, but make sure to be alert when driving, or you could take a teenager's life, as they often run out in front of vehicles without thinking. Something needs to change and be done to help protect these children and drivers as well.
Twin Falls Needs a New Crosswalk
At the intersection of Cheney and Billiar Street, many teenagers cross the road to get from the school to Walmart or where the food places are. If you are not paying attention as a driver, you may regret it, as teenagers often dash across the road in front of vehicles. While yes, they do have the right to cross, there isn't any signal for drivers. There are no flashing lights, no crossing guard, and no stop sign or stoplight. In 2025, the means are there to let drivers know kids are crossing in a much safer way than looking left and right. Recently, a teen ran across the road in front of me, and because of the fence around the tennis courts at the intersection, I didn't initially see him. Thank goodness I did before I got too close, but it could have ended badly. A simple flashing light on the road would have made this much safer for both of us.

If you are someone who drives this road during the day, make sure to stay alert and check that no teenagers are crossing the road before you go through the area. It is baffling that nothing has been done to make this area safer, especially for our kids in the Magic Valley. Do you think something should be added, and have you experienced nearly hitting a kid in this area as well? Be safe, be alert, and remind your children not to run in front of vehicles that may not see them.
