The 6 Most Annoying Things About Living in the Gem State
Idaho is one of the most naturally, beautiful states in the country and offers a lot to like. There are incredible mountains, stunning rivers, natural hot springs, open roads, and great hunting. There is plenty to like about the Gem State and there is a reason that it is one of the fastest growing states in the country. While there are plenty of positives about the state, there are also some negatives. Instead of focusing on the negatives, let's focus on the things that make living in Idaho annoying. Every state has things that annoy residents, and Idaho is no different. Here are the most annoying parts about living in the Gem State.
Bugs in Idaho
Idaho is home to some unique and frightening bugs. There are nasty spiders, flying insects, and many bugs that can do damage to residents. Besides those, there are also common flies, that in rural areas make their presence well known. With all the farm animals, the summer heat, and so much open country, flies are well represented. These annoying bugs find their way into your homes and vehicles and drive anyone nuts. If they aren't bad enough, there are ants, spiders, bees, and wasps, that also like to takeover selected areas.
Drivers in Idaho
While traffic in Idaho isn't nearly as bad as other states in the country, the drivers who do call Idaho home are not known to be the best. It isn't one thing that makes them annoying, but multiple things. There are often those who drive too slow in Idaho, well below the speed limit. There are those that fly around others and make passing vehicles dangerous. Many residents on dark country roads leave their high beams on, even with oncoming traffic. One of the most annoying drivers of all though, is the one going down the road in a tractor. It isn't their fault, but other drivers become impatient and it can make for a long trip if stuck behind one.
The Smells in the Gem State
Those who are born and raised in Idaho, likely do not recognize odd smells anymore, but for new residents, the smells often take a bit of getting used to. It is the price of living in a state with a large agricultural population, but when residents move from city life, they aren't accustomed to the smells. On windy days, the smell can make going outside rough and it can be a bit annoying to get slapped in the face with a disgusting smell every time one goes outdoors.
The People in Idaho
This can be said about anywhere, but often the people of Idaho can be extremely annoying. There are two sides to this argument, as the people new to the state annoy those who are true Idahoans, and also true locals annoy those who are new to Idaho. The implants annoy locals because they bring new views and locals assume they are trying to change the Gem State. Locals annoy the newbies because they are not accepting and judgmental of those who are new to the state and often they don't want change. These two clash and it forces everyone to annoy each other.
The Weather in Idaho
This one is likely the most obvious as Idaho weather is some of the most unpredictable in the entire country. It can be annoying when it is beautiful and sunny one day, and then raining and windy the next, or cold and snowing, or in triple digits. The wind is enough to drive residents crazy alone, as it does plenty of damage, and can make finding your trash can difficult. Figuring out how to dress day-to-day, especially in the fall and spring isn't easy and can be annoying.
Politics in Idaho
Something that is annoying all across the country, especially this time of year, is politics. While some states mostly agree on the voting party, Idaho is one that has become a little more divided over recent years. Most of the state has typically leaned towards being red, but with many residents moving to the Gem State from the West Coast over the last few years, part of the state has become more blue. Arguing politics is always annoying but in a state like Idaho which has plenty of pride and doesn't like change, it makes it more annoying than most.
Idaho can be a beautiful, quiet, calm state to live in, but it can also be filled with some annoying things. Politics will be bad wherever you go, and people are annoying everywhere, but putting up with the other annoyances is the price of living in the state. It could always be worse though, there are many states with far more annoying things that residents deal with daily. Take a breath and relax, it isn't that bad, even if annoying living in Idaho.
