Tragic Incident on Interstate 84, Just Outside Mountain Home
The Idaho State Police has reported a tragic accident on I-84 just west of Mountain Home, Idaho.
In a heartbreaking event on the afternoon of March 16, 2024, a grave accident took place on westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 83, Elmore County, claiming the life of a young juvenile and sending several others to the hospital.
A Sudden Turn for the Worse
The accident occurred at approximately 2:51 P.M. when a 2003 Ford Expedition, driven by a 45-year-old man from Filer, encountered a catastrophic tire blowout. The rear passenger side tire's failure caused the vehicle to veer uncontrollably off the right shoulder of the interstate, resulting in the SUV rolling several times before coming to a halt in an adjacent field.
Casualties and Emergency Response
The vehicle was carrying six individuals at the time of the accident, comprising three adults and three juveniles. Tragically, one of the younger passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. The emergency response was swift, with three of the vehicle's occupants requiring air ambulance services for rapid transport to a local hospital, while the remaining two were taken via ground ambulance for medical attention.
