New Businesses That Work in the Magic Valley and Others That Don’t
The Magic Valley is continuing to grow every day and more and more businesses have been moving into Twin Falls each year. Many have come and gone through the years. There is typically excitement when these new businesses open in the area, and over time some of these places close and disappear forever, while others have become a staple and a part of the Magic Valley. Through the years many different types of businesses have tried their hand at being successful in the Magic Valley, with some sticking around and others sadly failing. What types of businesses have had success in the Magic Valley and which ones fail when they try to call the area home?
Businesses That Work in Twin Falls
Far too many businesses have come into Twin Falls to sadly shut their doors in less than a couple of years, but some have stuck around and been successful. There are a few places that appear to have things figured out. Over the last few years, cookie stores have moved into Twin Falls, and nearly all of them are still active as of this writing. Delicious cookies appear to be successful in Twin Falls. Other businesses that have success have prime locations. Papa John's and Chipotle once called Twin Falls home, to end up leaving. They have both returned, to new locations and have seen success in their time since returning. Another popular theme is that multiple coffee shops have opened in the Magic Valley, and with a few exceptions, most are still open and thriving. If opening a new place in the area, clearly sticking to Pole Line or Blue Lakes will help find success, as well as selling cookies or coffee.
Businesses That Fail in Twin Falls
While location is key to helping businesses succeed in the Magic Valley, it can also hurt them. Being off the main streets makes it tough to have residents know about a new place and they often get forgotten about. Places that sell things that are pricey and specific have not seen much success in town. For example, biking is popular in the Magic Valley, and in theory, seems like a great idea, but because of the cost of bikes and that not everyone enjoys biking, some bike stores have closed in the Magic Valley. Cultural businesses have had a hard time succeeding as well, as they focus on specific types of people, and limit their market. It doesn't mean these businesses are a bad idea, but they don't work in Twin Falls as well as one would hope.
While there is no exact science as to why some businesses succeed and others fail in the Magic Valley, there are certain similarities that some of them have in common. Residents in the Magic Valley want convenient locations, sweets, and coffee, and don't want places off the beaten path, too pricey, or too specific. That doesn't mean every place in a good location with sweet coffee will succeed, and it doesn't mean every place in a bad location with a specific product will fail, but if history has taught us anything, it is likely a safe bet and a good model to follow. More places will move into the Magic Valley in the coming years, some will succeed and some will fail. It is up to the residents to support these places to see what sticks around, and what ultimately ends up leaving town.
