Comedy, Fair, Sports and More in the Magic Valley This Weekend

The weeks keep on rolling by, and August is now more than half over. The temperature is expected to be warm this weekend, and many will be looking for ways to cool off. However, despite the heat, it shouldn't stop you from having some fun. There are plenty of fun events happening this weekend in the Magic Valley, and one you won't want to miss if you're in the Boise area. Here are some things to do this weekend.

Thursday, August 21, Through Sunday, August 24 - Western Idaho Fair

While many in the Magic Valley are counting down the days until the Twin Falls County Fair, you don't have to wait to attend the fair. The Western Idaho Fair is currently taking place in Boise and will be happening Thursday through Sunday. On Thursday, you can see the All-American Rejects, and on Friday, you can catch Wynonna Judd. Thursday, August 21, - Saturday, August 23 - Back to School Scavenger Hunt

School is back and many parents are excited to have their kids out of the house once again but if you are looking for a way to entertain them this weekend, make sure to take them to the Twin Falls Public Library for the Back to School Scavenger Hunt. On Thursday the hunt will be from 10 AM to 9 PM and on Friday and Saturday it will be from 10 AM to 6 PM. You can stop by anytime to let your children participate in the hunt, and if they are able to complete it, they will get a free book. Friday, August 22 - CSI Women's Soccer

The soccer season is just around the corner, and if you can't wait, make sure to head out to check out the CSI women's soccer team as they scrimmage for the final time this year before starting their season. This Friday at 5 PM, you can catch the team playing against Northwest Nazarene University. Friday, August 22 - Comedy Night With Andrew Rose

Laughing is one of the best feelings in the world, and after a long week at work, you may need a laugh. Make sure to stop by The Lamphouse Theatre in Twin Falls this Friday for Comedy Night with Andrew Rose. Doors open at 7 PM and the show will begin at 8 PM. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door. Saturday, August 23 - Movie Matinee

During a hot weekend, watching a movie in a nice, cool room is a great way to escape the heat. The only thing better is being able to enjoy the movie for free. This Saturday at 3 PM, you can attend Movie Matinee at the Twin Falls Public Library. This month, they are doing Retro by Decades and playing a movie from a different decade each week. Saturday, August 23 & Sunday, August 24 - Back to School Recess for Parents

School is back for most in the Magic Valley now, and while having schedules, routine, and structure again are nice, parents may still need a break from the kids already. While children get recess at school growing up, it is now time for parents to do the same. This Saturday and Sunday, head on out to Holesinsky Vineyard and Winery for Back to School Recess for the Parents. This is a great way to escape the kids for an evening, or to enjoy time together as a family listening to live music, sipping wine, and enjoying some brick-oven pizza. The event will be Saturday and Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM each night, with Andy Crosby performing on Saturday and Jordan Shaw performing on Sunday. Saturday, August 23 - 24 Hour Theatre Project

Do you enjoy seeing creative minds come together and create magic after hours of chaos? That is exactly what will be happening this weekend at the Orpheum Theatre. The 24-Hour Theatre Project is back and will be happening this Saturday at 7 PM. Creative minds will come together to build an incredible show in 24 hours. 15 actors, 3 writers, and a team of directors will create magic from nothing.
