WATCH: Tourists Stomp Through Iconic Yellowstone Park Spring
In a recent development that can only be described as a shocking disregard for rules and nature's ecosystem, two Yellowstone National Park tourists have angered the masses by walking across the colored clay of the park's most iconic thermal hot spring.
A stunning display of ignorance played out on video this week as two visitors to Yellowstone National Park entered into restricted areas along the edge of Grand Prismatic Hot Spring and stomped through bacterial overflow, leaving footprints and compromising the landmark's delicate ecosystem that has existed for centuries.
News of the shameful incident has reached the far ends of the planet, upsetting many people who appreciate the beauty and wonder of America's first founded national park. Details were shared from several news sources such as USA Today, who reported Tuesday that a Montana resident captured the footage on Saturday, July 18.
I happened to be in the park on the same day this occurred and visited the famed landmark, but didn't witness these two wandering across the spring.
Two Yellowstone National Park Tourists Are In Hot Water For Walking Across The Iconic Grand Prismatic Hot Spring Bacterial Clay To Capture Photographs
Visitors to the park's thermal springs are restricted from leaving the wooden walking paths that extend throughout the edge of the waters that reach near 200 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool's dangerously acidic water is also known to hit a depth of over 120 feet.

The park made international headlines earlier this month after an elderly man was injured badly by a charging bison.
No information has been made available regarding any punishment handed down on the two tourists to date.
