A police report released Monday afternoon by the Idaho State Police states that a juvenile was killed this afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Jerome.

Child Killed By Car In Jerome Monday Afternoon

Monday, June 5th, 2023 at 1:56 PM, a vehicle vs pedestrian accident happened in Jerome. The tragic accident happened in the 600 block of North Fillmore Street. Idaho State Police are investigating the accident and questions can be directed to the District Office.

The police report in the news release and on the Idaho State Police blog page states:

A 72-year-old female of Jerome was driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee southbound on North Fillmore Street. A juvenile ran into the roadway and collided with the Jeep near North Fillmore Street and 6th Ave East. The juvenile was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Jeep was wearing a seatbelt. The northbound and southbound lanes of North Fillmore Street were blocked for approximately three and a half hours.

The 600 block of North Fillmore Street in Jerome includes or is near, Jefferson Elementary School.
