It isn’t verry often that we post about a Yellowstone animal encounter with humans where it isn’t the fault of the humans. Those ‘tourons’ have websites dedicated to their Darwinian behavior.

This story isn’t one of those. The video below shows a little girl with her family on a trail with what appears to be proper distance between them, until the bison goes on a rampage and chases the girl around a tree.

Lucky Little Girl Evades Bison Attack

You’ll see in the video that the family was on, or near, the path when a bison comes at them from a distance. The bison sets its sights on the little girl and luckily gives up only a few moments after.

The video has triggered various opinions online after the original video doesn’t show what happens before the attack. You can see both videos below, the short one where people assume the family approached the bison and the full video where you can see the beast come from quite a distance to get to them quickly.

It definitely could have ended a lot worse, as we know from a similar experience a few years ago where a 9-year-old girl was charged and tossed by a bison.

National Park guidelines recommend visitors stay at least 25 yards from bison.

In early June, an elderly woman was gored by a bison at the Nation Park. It isn’t clear whether she approached the bison or if she was surprised by it in her path.
