This year's Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering in Shoshone, Idaho, wrapped up Sunday morning following two days of live shows, poetry, food, story telling, a vendor showcase, muzzle loading demonstrations, camping, and celebrating the western ranching way of life.
It began lightly raining as I was packing my trailer Sunday morning to make the 27-mile drive back to Twin Falls from the annual Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering. My wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and 10-year-old boy attended the event with me, and it was the highlight of our summer, which also ended Sunday.
The doors opened at noon Friday (September 19) and the final performance by cowboy entertainer Dave Stamey ended just before 10 P.M. Saturday night. Both of Stamey's evening shows at Shoshone's Lincoln County Community Center were packed with loyal fans, and a few new ones.

Stamey was featured in a lineup of entertainers that included Buddy Devore and the Faded Cowboys with Colt Angell, The Idaho Cowboy Band, Johnny & Jen, Bryan Dilworth, Poppa Mac, Tony Argento, and Ted Hoffman.

Vendors included Rufina's Frybread, Nana's Hotdog Heaven, White Barn Bakery, Idaho Vaqueras, and several others. President Chris Dixon reflected Monday morning on the success of the event.
'We are beyond grateful for the support of all of our sponsors, vendors, entertainers, volunteers, and those who came to enjoy a great show', said Dixon. 'Our committee is speechless. We have overcome tragedy and uncertainty this year and the Lost N Lava family proved to us that they are here to help keep our dream alive'.
This year's event was dedicated to the memory of longtime contributor and supporter Miss Claudia Reese, who passed away in January.
Members of the non-profit Southern Idaho Muzzle Loader Association (SIMLA) were also at the event giving the public the opportunity to do some target shooting. The guys invite southern Idahoans to join them every second weekend of the month, and will be setting up for an area turkey shoot on November 15. For more information about SIMLA, call 208-410-9057.
