Someone Created A Map Of Missing ID, UT, WA Hikers, Hunters

The northwestern United States might have the best hiking and hunting in the country. Due to any number of circumstances, people are sometimes never heard from again after entering the backcountry.

Every year, people unfortunately go missing while participating in wilderness activities in the Pacific Northwest and surrounding states. Search and rescue attempts often fail because of the amount of wilderness in this region of the country.

While the number of those who have gone missing in states such as Utah, Idaho, and Washington is virtually impossible to estimate, some people have tried to make locating these lost souls easier.

Hunting and hiking are two hobbies that carry great risk. Isolation, wildlife, poor access to outside communication, and altitude are all realities of spending time off-grid that can work against a person. It's no wonder so many outdoor lovers go missing in the U.S. each year.

One Reddit user created a map that marks the last known locations for Idaho hikers, boaters, and hunters. A few of these individuals have been located, but many are still lost in the wild.

There are other sites available online that also help with trying to locate missing outdoor enthusiasts across the country. Accidents happen frequently while taking part in such activities; that's why it's important to try to hike or hunt with a partner if possible.
