I am a huge Jimi Hendrix fan. I don’t think any guitarist was more innovative in his day, and he set the standard for what a guitarist could be, as evidenced by techniques that are still used today.  He lived fast, and died way too soon, but at least we have his music. Well fans, if you just can’t get enough, there’s more music on the way!

Experience Hendrix LLC, and Legacy Recordings have announced new releases from the Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project, that will be available April 12th. The Legacy edition of Power of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, the posthumous South Saturn Delta, and a deluxe DVD edition of Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys (Live at Fillmore East). There will also be a limited edition 7″ vinyl single of the song “fire” backed with an unreleased track called “Touch You.”

Power of Soul has Hendrix covers from Soul and R&B artists including Prince, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lenny Kravitz, Eric Gales, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more. South Southern Delta was originally released in 1997,  and covers Jimi’s entire career, and includes a lot of previously unreleased material, and will be available as both a CD and limited edition double 12″ vinyl.

Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys (Live at the Fillmore East) is the only known footage of the band in concert, including an outstanding version of the song “Machine Gun”, along with documentary footage and bonus material.CD and limited edition double 12″ vinyl.

Legacy Recordings has done a tremendous job with the engineering and remastering of previous releases, so these should also be great quality recordings.  I can’t wait to add them to my collection!
