MTV’s Top 100 All-Time Vids Named: Does Idaho Agree?
Many Americans received alerts on their phones this week regarding the end of an era approaching for fans of music videos. Music Television (MTV) is pulling the plug on nearly all its programming overseas with the exception of one brand.
For those of us who grew up watching MTV, it hasn't felt nearly the same as it did in the network's heyday before reality television took over in the mid-nineties with shows like The Real World and Road Rules. MTV went from premiering videos from the world's biggest entertainers to taping roommates hooking up with one another for 18 hours a day.
I remember when MTV launched in 1981. My preadolescent self would stay up until two o'clock in the morning watching videos with my older brother. Then, in 1993, Beavis & Butt-Head launched on the network, and there went my desire to go outside.

Millions of teens worldwide went to school dead tired because of MTV between 1981 and 1990, before reality shows started bumping videos.

Slant Magazine compiled a pretty decent list of MTV's Top 100 Video's of All-Time. Let's see if you agree. I would have swapped out Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' for the number one spot, but that's just my opinion. 'Take on Me,' by A-Ha, was a great video though.
Please share with us your best memories of MTV.
