Colorado homicide detectives are trying to locate 10 Doberman puppies that have been reportedly stolen from a dog breeder in the city of Idaho Springs, which is located 30 miles west of Denver. The death of dog breeder Paul Peavey is being investigated as a homicide, according to CPR News. The man's body was discovered on August 24.
Elite European Dobermans is the name of the business Peavey operated, according to CPR News. Peavey raised, trained, and prepared the animals for sale to interested parties across the United States, and one or more of the Dobermans may have been sold over state lines in Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, or Montana.
The person(s) who stole these puppies could potentially sell them for up to $4,000 each. Selling the puppies out of state rather than to interested Colorado parties would be a likely course of action for the person(s) who is in possession of these animals.
If you have information that can help police in this investigation or have heard of a recent Doberman sale, you are being asked to contact the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, at 303-679-2376.
