Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Passing Through Southern Idaho
If you're going to be out and about this weekend in southern Idaho, keep your eyes peeled for America's only automobile shaped like a wiener. Oscar Mayer has sent its trademark ride to the Gem State this week.
The last time many of us heard about the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile it had to do with an accident one of their drivers got into on a Chicago freeway. Pictures of the wiener flipped on its side in a lane went viral. Thankfully, no one was injured when the 3,600-pound wienermobile wrecked.
Oscar Mayer has been sending the iconic ride out on United States highways since the forties. I have seen it on the roadway twice in my lifetime. The first was in California in the late nineties and then again in Idaho about seven years ago. It's one of those automobiles you just have to poke your head into if given the chance.
There will be several more opportunities to see the wienermobile in Montana, California, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon in the coming weeks.
Some of you in southern Idaho might have seen it in the past 24 hours as it made its way to Boise. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be parked at the Boise Albertson's market Friday (August 23) until noon, according to its official website. The address is 10565 West Hazel Road.
There will be several more opportunities to see the wienermobile in Montana, California, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon in the coming weeks. Don't be surprised if it passes you on an Idaho highway between now and October as its making the rounds in the west for the next five weeks.
