Pro Hockey 3 Hours From Twin Falls ID Officially Begins Sept 22

Professional hockey for the first time within just a couple of hours of the Magic Valley has almost arrived! The latest National Hockey League expansion club southeast of Twin Falls, Idaho, is less than a month away from its first preseason puck drop.

For those in southern Idaho who love professional hockey, Utah's new hockey team starts the preseason on September 22. The Utah Hockey Club plays the St. Louis Blues to start the NHL preseason from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City about four weeks from now.

Utah's first regular season game in its history will be October 8 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Utah's first-ever draft selection back in April was Tij Iginla.

From Twin Falls to Salt Lake City is a little over 200 miles, so southern Idahoans will likely be filling seats at the games in this upcoming inaugural season. Once hockey starts, all other sports come to a halt as far as I'm concerned.

With Utah getting the newest NHL team, fans in Nevada and Idaho might just have another team to pledge their allegiance to. The Las Vegas Golden Knights have already won a championship in just seven years of existence, and the Seattle Kraken were the newest expansion team (2021) prior to Utah getting a club.

I am a big football fan too (Go Birds!), but I tend to tune out the rest of the games when my Anaheim Ducks start skating. I'll watch all the Eagles games, but for the most part, I tune into the rest of the games strickly to monitor my fantasy football league.
