Rite Aid Continues ID, WA Store Closures: What To Do About Meds
Plans to close hundreds of the nation's most used pharmacy locations are proceeding after the company announced its second bankruptcy since 2023 several weeks ago.
Closures have begun in more than a dozen states and will have ripple effects for thousands of prescription medication users across the country, including Idaho and Washington State.
The popular chain Rite Aid has been reducing staff and closing locations from New York to California since making the announcement back in May.
At Least Four Idaho Rite Aid Stores In the Process of Closing, Sources Say
Prescription services at four Idaho stores will likely need transferring to alternative area pharmacies in the coming weeks, according to The News Nation. Rite Aid locations in Moscow, Caldwell, Hayden, and McCall will close soon, according to the source.

The chain was operating over 2,300 stores in 2023; that number has been reduced to 1,200 currently, according to New Jersey Business Magazine. New York and California have been hit the hardest by closures in recent weeks, with a combined 112 locations scheduled to cease operations.

Prescription users in Idaho and Washington State should contact the pharmacies that have been filling their meds to see what the best course of action is, if it hasn't already been done. This process is relatively easy and shouldn't take more than a few days; be persistent about keeping in touch with your healthcare provider and store until transfers are completed.
