New ‘Sherlock’ Season 3 Photos: “The Sign of Three,” and Villains Galore!
We're just days away from the New Years' premiere of 'Sherlock' season 3, "The Empty Hearse," but even with the relatively short wait until the subsequent premieres, why wait for an early look at the second and third installments of the new series, "The Sign of Three" and "His Last Vow"? Some new photos of the season have emerged, but be warned of major spoilers for Watson and Sherlock's relationship, and the new villain to plague their lives!
First and foremost, and spoilers not withstanding, the latest look at photos from "The Sign of Three" reveals a detailed insight into Watson's wedding to Mary Morstan (Martin Freeman's real-life partner Amanda Abbington), some of which we caught during the show's panel at Comic-Con 2013. Sherlock will struggle with delivering a proper speech as best man, but our real concerns lie with photos of "His Last Vow," wherein Sherlock contends with "The Napoleon of Blackmail," Charles Augustus Magnussen (Lars Mikkelsen, brother to ‘Hannibal”s Mads Mikkelsen)!
So reads the synopses of the episodes that follow January 1's "The Empty Hearse":
"The Sign of Three"
In episode two of this new series, Sherlock faces his biggest challenge of all – delivering a Best Man’s speech on John’s wedding day! But all isn’t quite as it seems. Mortal danger stalks the reception – and someone might not make it to the happy couple’s first dance. Sherlock must thank the bridesmaids, solve the case and stop a killer!
"His Last Vow"
In the final episode of this new series, written by Steven Moffat, a case of stolen letters leads Sherlock Holmes into a long conflict with Charles Augustus Magnussen, the Napoleon of blackmail, and the one man he truly hates. But how do you tackle a foe who knows the personal weakness of every person of importance in the Western world?
The BBC has yet to commission an official ‘Sherlock’ season 4, though reportedly Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have both signed on for the follow-up, in spite of their increasingly busy schedules. Take a look at the latest photos from 'Sherlock' season 3 below, and stay tuned for the latest on the January 1 premiere!
