Both 'Star Trek' fans and beer snobs like to obsess over and complain about the thing they claim to love until they alienate everyone in the room, so it only makes sense to combine that market. Behold! The 'Star Trek' beer Klingon Warnog is here and now you can show off your eclectic alcohol tastes and unsettling dedication to a fictional universe at the same time!

Brewed by the Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana, Klingon Warnog is not an actual science fiction drink intended for brutal warriors with impressive head ridges, but actually a "hand-crafted Roggen Dunkel" intended for nerds wearing latex head ridges at 'Star Trek' conventions. The official press release says that this is a "bold beer suited for the harsh Klingon lifestyle," so we imagine it will also help lonely nerds like us forget the fact that we've dedicated a significant portion of our lives to learning how to spell "Qo'noS" without looking it up.

If you're a real beer geek, here's how the announcement describes Klingon Warnog:

This singular beer incorporates rye malt into a modern Dunkelweizen grain bill, creating a flavor profile that is both familiar and unique.  Warnog's aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt.  The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor.  The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called a Klingon Warnog.

We would make fun of a description that dense, but people who live in glass houses decorated with 'Trek' memorabilia shouldn't throw stones.

Klingon Warnog will be "officially" announced tomorrow at the Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas.
