The Jerome County Fair brings you the Redneck Race. This is a fun relay race for ages 3 years old and up. The race will take place at the DePew Arena on Friday August 12th at 7:00pm.

The Perrine Bridge Festival is this Saturday at the visitors center near the Perrine Bridge. The festival consists of many different activities.

Signature Fitness is helping 21 year old Daniel Havens kick cancer with a benefit 5K run/walk and kids fun run. The run will take place on Friday, June 19th at 6:30pm at The CSI Herrett Center.

This is going to be fun to watch! Some will sink and some will float - but everybody will have fun. The Kapstone 2014 Great Cardboard Boat Float in Twin Falls is Saturday at Dierkes from 11a-2pm.

Changing the racial identity of characters has become a contentious issue amongst fans of superhero comics and their adaptations in other media. The awful practices of casting white actors to play people of color, or of turning previously non-white characters into white characters, is all too common in movie adaptations of books, cartoons, TV shows, or even real life stories -- but rather surprisingly, superhero comics and their adaptations have mostly avoided this problem. In comics, the controversy takes a different direction. Several white characters have become non-white, mostly in movies, and sometimes in reboots. Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm in the new Fantastic Four; Helena Bertinelli aka the Huntress in the New 52; Nick Fury in the Ultimate Comics line and on screen. These are changes that agitate some readers -- but realistically, the changes don't go far enough. Superhero comics have a cultural bias towards white characters that has everything to do with their institutional history and nothing to do with what makes sense to the stories.

Back in the day, I used to run 5Ks with my hot mom, then I moved to Idaho and it's been a long time since I've ran one.  Since I enjoy torturing myself, I signed my mom and I up for the Spirit of Magic Valley 5K run last Saturday.  I'm still sore.  And I learned a lot.

As much as I could go for an edible doughnut right now, that's not what I'm talking about.
