The Magic Valley Names the Teacher of the Year!
Teachers are some of the most important members of our society. They educate and shape the minds of our children (and us) and help us better ourselves. We here at Townsquare Media Twin Falls think they deserve more credit.
That's why we asked you to name the Magic Valley Teacher of the Year. The nominations were numerous and voting was brisk, but one educator came out on top.
There were a total of 5,551 votes cast in our poll, and 43.43% of them went to Scott Burton from Jerome High School! Here's why one of Mr. Burton's students felt he should be the Magic Valley Teacher of the Year:
Mr. Burton has changed my life and the lives of hundreds of students. He’s devoted 16 years specifically to the Jerome Advanced Speech team, and because of his guidance we have won state 13 out of the 16 years he’s coached. He’s a constant giver and without his passion for speech and his care for his students the most successful speech team in Idaho wouldn’t exist.
As our 2013 Magic Valley Teacher of the Year, Mr. Burton wins an Apple iPad Mini to use in the classroom, or anyway he likes, and we'll make a $500 donation to Jerome High School.
Congratulations to all the Top 10 Teachers and everyone nominated to be the Magic Valley Teacher of the Year!
