Train and Pickup Collide in Jerome County

JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)-A train and pickup collided at a railroad crossing in Jerome County Sunday morning.

According to the Jerome County Sheriff's Office, a Chevrolet pickup had been headed north on U.S. Highway 93 at around 8:50 a.m. when it was struck by the train. The train had been headed east. The sheriff's office said the crossing lights had been working at the time. The locomotive only had minor damage. The driver of the pickup was not injured and did not need to be taken to the hospital. The driver was cited for failure to obey a railroad crossing signal.

One lane was partially blocked by the crash.
