There is currently a critical blood shortage and the American Red Cross needs your help. Especially if you have Type O blood.

According to the American Red Cross, In May and June, donations were at the lowest level the Red Cross has seen in over a dozen years, while demand for blood products remained steady. Because of that, the Red Cross needs blood donors now more than ever. All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient.

Here's how you can help:

  • Blood Drive Hours are Monday July 18 from 1 to 7, Tuesday, July 19 from noon to 6 and Wednesday, July 20 from 9 to 1.
  • The drive is at Ascension Episcopal Church in Twin Falls, on Eastland (where the soccer fields are).
  • We really need donors this time - summer means more deferrals, and more regular donors on vacation and unable to give, but the need remains unchanged!
  • Walk-ins are especially encouraged on Tuesday and Wednesday because of the new system and a very full schedule of pre-made appointments on Monday.

If you would like to learn more about donating blood or aren't sure whether or not they are qualified to give blood due to travel or medical issues, visit www.redcrossblood.org and click on Donate Blood or call 1-866-236-3276 to talk to a donor health counselor.
