Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) -- Blaine County is one of the five healthiest areas in the Gem State.

Are you living in the healthiest county in Idaho?

You might be... However, you could be living in one of the unhealthiest counties.  The annual county health rankings are out and you may be surprised.

"It's in cooperation with the Robert Wood Johnson foundation and the University of Wisconsin and their population health studies. They take data available from the states to CDC and health and human services, like the behavior risk factor systems and reports on behavior health, mental health, physical activity, and nutrition,” explains Rene LeBlanc, district director at SCPHD.

Here is the break down in rankings regarding health factors.

Ada County ranks number two, followed by Blaine County.

You go down the list where you find Cassia at 16, then Twin Falls at 22.

Go down to the bottom of the list, and you will find Lincoln, Gooding, and Jerome.

"The health factors are broken down into four categories, things we would associate with: Tobacco use, diet and exercise, alcohol use and sexual activity. There is clinical care; that is access to a hospital and providers, social and economic factors, education, and employment income,” LeBlanc says.

An annual report that helps communities identify and implement solutions that make it easier for people to be healthy in their schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

Nationally, rankings show people living in the least healthy counties are twice as likely to have shorter lives as those in healthier ones.
