Disney has finally announced when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, its massive theme park lands coming to Disneyland and Disney World this year, will open — with one very big caveat.

During the company’s annual shareholders meeting, it was announced that Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open to the public on May 31. Orlando’s counterpart — located at Disney Hollywood Studios — debuts on August 29. Previously the land was not scheduled to open, at least in Florida, until later in the fall of 2019.

There is a big catch though. When the lands first begin inviting customers to visit the galaxy far, far away, they will do so with only one of the two big attractions operating. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, where guests get to pilot Han Solo’s famous ship (seen above in concept art), will be open on day one in both parks. The other big ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is described as a massive and complex dark ride where visitors travel from a planet to a Star Destroyer and back, will open at a later date. Disney CEO Bob Iger called the ride “the most technologically advanced and immersive attraction” ever.

According to Disney Parks Blog, between May 31 and June 23, Disneyland visitors “will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation, subject to availability, to access the land.” They say details on getting these reservations will come at a later date. Reservations will not be required in Florida, but the blog ominously notes that “capacity is limited” there.

So mark your calendars, book your plane tickets — but know that if you go at opening to Galaxy’s Edge you may feel a tractor-beam-like pull to return, because you’ll only get to experience one of the two rides to start. You can still drink the blue milk, at least.
