Most of us are aware of a special segment of society that enjoys dressing up in medieval regalia and carrying out staged battles at parks and other locations on the weekend. One Idaho group actually plans and performs non-choreographed fights and offers the public the opportunity to participate or enjoy from a safe distance away.

Gladiator was one heck of a movie. Russell Crowe played "Maximus," a badass brawler who is hell-bent on avenging deaths in his family and set in the times of the Roman Empire. The film came out in 2000.

There are presently two events planned in Boise and Garden City between now and May 12, 2024. The gladiators also hold practices in southern Idaho that people can attend as well.

Gladiator 2 is set to be released on November 22, and I can hardly wait. For those of us looking for something to entertain us in the meantime, there are real Gladiator-style battles planned in the Boise area in the coming weeks, and they are going to be carried out by a group of men and women who run a website called Idaho Armored Combat.

The group also has an Instagram page that contains videos of past battles for interested people to check out. There are presently two events planned in Boise and Garden City between now and May 12, 2024. The gladiators also hold practices in southern Idaho that people can attend as well.
