Boise ID School Art Project Promoting Unity Ignites Online Hatred
A seemingly innocent art project completed by students in a southern Idaho school district has come under fire by some Gem State residents who took to social media to voice displeasure and confusion. A photograph of the project sparked a debate on a popular statewide website this week that has seen several hundred residents comment on the matter.
Schools are supposed to be safe learning centers for young kids, teenagers, and adults of all skin colors and ethnic backgrounds. This country has long since moved on from people pushing for segregated classrooms and supporting unequal, discriminatory rules going as far back as the 1700s, or at least that's what many Americans believe.
I mean, am I missing something here?
The banner has fueled some pretty nasty back and forth on the comment chain, and some adding their thoughts to the Reddit post are claiming the school has taken it down.

A recent Reddit post that shows a banner created by Boise area students is getting a lot of attention this week. The creation itself appears harmless and simply has the words "Everyone Is Welcome Here" in light-colored paper letters. Various, different colored extended arms can also be seen on the banner which would lead most people to believe the project is promoting unity in Idaho among students of all nationalities.
Some of the reactions appear to have come from Idahoans who might be overthinking the creation, or are just plain upset with its message. The banner has fueled some pretty nasty back and forth on the comment chain, and some adding their thoughts to the Reddit/Idaho post are claiming the school has taken it down. Two separate posts have gone up in the past 48 hours regarding the school's sign, with close to 400 people commenting.
