Challenger Disaster Remembered
So many little kids answer astronaut when they're asked what they want to be when they grow up. Space exploration is something that many people are still in awe over. It's always amazing to me when I realize we've been to the moon, and think of all of the discoveries we've made. Yet there are always costs and risks that go along with the exploration. A strong crew was lost in the Challenger space shuttle explosion that occurred on January 29, 1986.
It was the first in-flight disaster in the 25-year, 56-launch history of the U.S. space program -- and the worst recorded disaster for either the Americans or the Soviets.
I think that no matter how many years go by, and no matter what is happening in life, it's important to remember these brave people who dedicate themselves to science and new discoveries.
