The discovery of a deceased infant on a very busy Southern California freeway now has reportedly been linked to a double fatal incident involving a married couple. The body was found in the early morning hours of April 8 on the 405 Freeway.

The Los Angeles Police Department is heading an investigation into a possible murder-suicide that spanned approximately 45 miles both to the north and south of the city, according to details shared by ABC News. One death in Woodland Hills has been confirmed to be linked to a fatal car crash in Redondo Beach. Three fatalities--two adults and an infant-- have been confirmed so far in the case.

Two female children, one aged nine and the other six months, were reportedly abandoned on the busy freeway sometime Monday morning, according to ABC News. The younger child did not survive the ordeal; the older girl is expected to recover from her injuries, according to ABC.

The 405 freeway connects the two cities of Woodland Hills and Redondo Beach. Both are located in Los Angeles County. It's not known what exactly caused the death of the small child.
