MALTA, Idaho (KLIX) – Fire crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a blaze about 13 miles south of Malta.

The Bureau of Land Management, Raft River Rural Fire Department, Sawtooth National Forest and several aircraft are responding to the Geothermal Fire, which is running northwest in grass and brush, according to fire officials.

Fire officials say the blaze is estimated to have burned roughly 1,100 acres, but has slowed since it started.
