Over the last week, the Idaho State Police have reported 7 serious highway accidents. 4 of those accidents were fatal, claiming the lives of 5 people.

One of the accidents involved 2 semi-trucks that collided head-on, killing both drivers. Another accident involved a single semi-truck that crashed into a tree and caught fire, and the 4th fatal crash was a motorcycle rider who crashed into a deer on the highway.

Idaho State Police Reported 5 Highway Accidents Since Friday: 2 Were Fatal

The 100 Deadliest Days of Summer in Idaho have been exactly that, deadly. ISP have reported at least 39 fatal highway accidents since summer began. Two of those incidents happened on the same day last week: the 24th of July.

On the 24th, a semi-truck driver lost control of his truck, which crashed into a tree and caught fire, and a motorcycle rider hit a deer. Both drivers passed away. Details on the accidents are shared below.

Semi Truck Driver in Idaho Killed After Crashing Into a Tree

The Idaho State Police reported a fatal accident early on July 24th, around 5:30 AM, on State Highway 53 near mile marker 7.

A 2002 Peterbilt work truck driven by a 51-year-old male from Spirit Lake, Idaho, was traveling westbound on SH 53, failed to maintain their lane of travel, crossed the eastbound lane, ran off the roadway, and crashed into a tree on the eastbound roadside, overturned, and caught fire.

Police believe the driver, who passed away at the scene of the crash, was wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened.

Motorcycle Rider Dead After Hitting a Deer on Idaho Highway

On the evening of the 24th, at 9:39 PM, a fatal motorcycle accident happened on US 20 at mile marker 124, south of the city of Pine.

A 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by a 19- year- old male out of Calwell, was traveling westbound on US20 passing another vehicle, where he collided with a deer that ran into the road.

The rider was wearing a helmet, but passed away at the scene of the crash.

Both fatal accidents are being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
