After three failed attempts to get voters to pass a $13-million dollar bond to build a new county jail, Jerome County Commissioners are looking for other solutions.  The building that the current jail is located in does not meet certain standards according to County Sheriff Doug McFall.  However, the county is considering remodeling the basement in that buildling to add an additional 15 beds plus showers and bathroom facilities.  That could be used as a temporary fix but officials say a more permanent solution still must be found.  The County currently has 24 inmates being housed in out of county facilities at a cost of $45 to $60 per day.  Commissioners say they are considering several measures including downsizing plans for a new jail from 165 beds to 100.   County Commissioner Charlie Howell is organizing a citizens committee to provide input on a jail location and other possible justice facility funding.
