One of America’s Most Scenic Train Rides is a Day’s Drive From Twin Falls
One of the greatest experiences in my life was riding the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado. But, that's nowhere near us. But, did you know one of the most scenic train rides in the country is within a day's drive of Twin Falls?
if you have never experienced a scenic train ride, do it
This idea came to mind when I saw Only In Your State share what they consider the 19 most gorgeous train rides in America. Most of us won't have the chance to travel to Alaska to experience their railway. And, most of the others aren't close either. But, there are 2 that made the list that are very doable from Twin Falls if you get a mini-vacation or weekend.
The one that caught my eye was the Mt. Hood Railroad. It's less than 8 hours away and features some of the best scenery that Oregon has to offer.
Most of their trips begin mid-to-late April and there's even one where you can experience a good ole fashioned train robbery. Nice.
I don't want to sound like a commercial, but if you have never experienced a scenic train ride, do it. For me, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never ever forget. Plus, I hear Mt. Hood is awesome this time of year.
