A California-based manufacturer of pre-packaged, mixed vegetable trays and bags, has voluntarily recalled several varieties for fears the products were exposed to a certain bacteria.

Mann Packing Company Inc., of Salinas, California, has recalled a series of its quick and easy vegetable snack bags and bowls after it was determined some of the shipments might have been exposed to listeria, according to a November 3, 2019, release from the company.

The vegetable assortments are sold in stores throughout the United States and Canada. Exposure to listeria can have serious consequences. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, close to 2,000 people in the U.S. are sickened by exposure to the bacteria each year, with more than 150 cases proving fatal.

No illnesses directly linked to the recalled items have been confirmed yet. The recall is a move of caution by the company. The recalled food packages, which have a "best if enjoyed by" date of October 11, 2019, to November 16, 2019, include primarily individual assorted vegetables and mixed bowls.

Fever, abdominal pain, nausea and muscle stiffness are symptoms of listeria exposure, and pregnant women are at risk for potentially deadly affects for the fetus. If you think you might have become ill due to one of the recalled food items produced by Mann Packing Company of California, you can file a report by calling the company's consumer safety number, at 844-927-0707.
