There are plenty of July nights ahead to view some incredible atmospheric events in Idaho as the Moon, Saturn, and meteor showers will all be putting on a show for us up above. Have your telescopes ready stargazers!

The second half of July will include streaking asteroids, a brighter Saturn, and other celestial phenomena easily visible to Idahoans throughout the state. Camping in the mountains might be the best vantage point to truly take in what's in store for us astronomically.

Remember to seek an area free from excessive light pollution to get the best views, which is why reserving Idaho campsites or going "off-grid" would be a great call in the coming days.

The upcoming warm, clear July nights in Idaho will be yielding some fantastic opportunities for skywatchers throughout the Gem State. July 17 will start the Perseid Meteor Showers which will be shooting across the night sky for the better part of a week during the Moon's first quarter phase, according to Royal Museums Greenwich. The Moon and Saturn will appear closer than usual which will make for stunning views.

July 21 will be a full Moon as it prepares for a conjunction with Saturn later in the week giving us a chance to view the ringed, sixth planet from the sun in a much brighter state than usual. Neptune will also be more visible thanks to an eastern elongation, according to in-the-sky.org.

The Delta Aquariids will peak on July 30 as well. Mid-evening to dawn will be the best chance to see these meteors, according to earthsky.org. Remember to seek an area free from excessive light pollution to get the best views, which is why reserving Idaho campsites or going "off-grid" would be a great call in the coming days.
