This TV season is already overflowing with new TV shows based on comics, with Gotham, iZombie, Powers, The Flash, and more on the way, but SyFy announced this week that it's adding even more to the list.

Keeping in line with its return to science fiction and fantasy programming (though it's keeping its oddly spelled name, it seems), the network is launching a huge slate of new shows, including four based on comics: Ronin, Pax Romana, Letter 44 and Clone.

Ronin, which was Frank Miller's dystopia/samurai series at DC Comics, is the oldest and probably best-known series of the bunch. It ran for six issues in 1983 and 1984. The production company for the TV series, Warner Horizon Entertainment, is envisioning it as a mini-series and is still looking for a writer.

Jonathan Hickman's Pax Romana was also a miniseries at Image Comics, and will be a miniseries for SyFy. The comic ran for four issues in 2007 and 2008. Hickman will serve as co-executive producer with Stephen Scaia (Warehouse 13) and David Alpert (The Walking Dead). Scaia will co-write the series with writing partner Matthew Federman.

Letter 44 by Charles Soule and Alberto Alburquerque is only five issues into its run as a space mystery at Oni Press, but it's on the slate. It's got a big name attached, too: Jonathan Mostow, director of Terminator 3 and Surrogates, will write and direct the pilot, which is seemingly for a full series.

Juan Jose Ryp's Clone, which focuses on a scientist's discovery of a doppelganger of himself, is 15 issues into its run at Image under the Skybound Entertainment banner run by Robert Kirkman. David Schulner will write pilot, with Kirkman and Alpert executive producing with him.

Get ready for some serious comics TV, everybody.
