‘Arrow’ Season 2: Producers Address Continuity with ‘Batman vs. Superman’
DC's live-action properties have long been faced with far fewer continuity ties than Marvel's cinematic universe, but 'Arrow' fans have remained optimistic that the CW-DC drama could in fact hold a place within the world of 'Man of Steel,' and 'Batman vs. Superman.' Muddy though things have been, producers finally have an answer about the CW's Green Arrow prospects on the big screen.
While Marvel maintains continuity between 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and its most recent cinematic effort, 'Thor: The Dark World,' The CW's 'Arrow' producers remain a bit less confident that Stephen Amell's bowman could share the silver screen with the likes of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. We'd assumed as much with the casting of TV-friendly Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, along with 'Spartacus' star Cynthia Addai-Robbinson as DC go-between Amanda Waller, though 'Arrow' producer Greg Berlanti specifically addressed Fandango on 'Arrow''s relationship with DC's cinematic offerings:
We haven't had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us. And every now and then, they'll say, 'You can't have that guy.' They don't say why, and we figure out why later on.
'Arrow''s super-powered prospects remain somewhat ambiguous now that The CW has opted to give Grant Gustin's Barry Allen his own 'Flash' pilot independent of his upcoming 'Arrow' appearance in "The Scientist,' but regardless, it seems as if DC has no current plans to interlock its most successful live-action TV property with its current cinematic ventures. Reinforcing that idea, we recently heard that 'Arrow' might introduce its own incarnation of 'Batman' character Nightwing, while 'Batman vs. Superman' has been rumored for its own take on the future Dick Grayson.
Well, what say you? Are you disappointed to learn that DC has no plans to link 'Batman vs. Superman' with 'Arrow?' Could the comic conglomerate change its mind in order to attract its successful CW fanbase? Tell us in the comments what you'd like to see 'Arrow' do with the DC cinematic future!
