Idaho's most recent report of unidentified aerial phenomena was reported to a national research team and investigated. The findings were published and are available to read publically, and detailed the incident that took place near a mountain range 260 miles north of Twin Falls.

So far, 2023 has seen fewer reports to the National UFO Reporting Center of unidentified aerial phenomena by Idaho residents compared to past years. In the past decade, the Gem State has experienced some of the highest numbers of reports of unidentified aerial crafts in the country, according to NUFORC data.

Sal Mountain is located southeast of the community of Salmon, in the Lemhi Mountain Range, and has an elevation of over 9,500 feet. The mountain was used as a state fire lookout, according to idahoclimbingguide.com.

On June 21, 2023, a report was filed with the NUFORC by a witness in central Idaho. The incident was investigated, and the report was recently shared on the website on July 10. It details the sighting of a "bright orange," beach ball-shaped object that was seen hovering at approximately 1,000 feet.

The sighting lasted less than a minute, according to the witness. The object also was described as having an aura, or haze around it. This region of Idaho is a popular camping and outdoor destination, so there could possibly be many more witnesses that may have seen the object on the evening of June 19 at approximately 10:30 P.M.
