Men struggle with Valentine's Day gifts. Flowers die, chocolates send mixed messages, and jewelry is expensive. Is there such a thing as a good Valentine's Day gift?

In my humble opinion, Valentine's Day is over rated in the first place, but I know a lot of people that love it because it's a day to show love and kindness towards others.

The Perfect Valentine's Day Present?

Because I don't really get the point of Valentine's Day (I think people should show how they feel every day), I don't think there is such thing as a good Valentine's Day gift. Or maybe I'm getting cynical from hanging around Brad Weiser too long. Here's how I look at it:

  • A stuffed animal or teddy bear is cute, but seems pretty "elementary school."
  • Chocolates are a staple of Valentine's Day... but what if she's trying to lose weight? Or it breaks her New Year's resolutions? Chocolates are a potentially dangerous gift. Perhaps a hand grenade would be safer than chocolate?
  • Clothes? Let's just avoid that minefield all together, shall we?
  • Flowers die.
  • Jewelry? Can be really expensive, and if you buy something cheap or fake, women will know and destroy you (Us ladies have that right. It's in the U.S. Constitution... look it up).
  • Lingerie? This is a coin toss gift. It has a 50/50 chance of working or falling flat. And I think a couple has to be at a good, comfortable spot in their relationship before this gift can happen... and there are women who love it, and some who feel it's demeaning. Plus, if you get the wrong size it can be accidentally insulting.
  • Or you could get something practical like new slippers or a blender. But if you buy something practical you run the risk of not buying something "romantic" and sending the wrong message ("I love you so I got you a new blender for Valentine's Day. Make me a margarita.").

What do you think? Is there really such a thing as a good Valentine's Day gift? Take the poll and tell us what your best Valentine's Day present was in the comments below.
