Dwight Yoakam is a country music legend. Bursting onto the music scene with his low slung hat, tight blue jeans, and popped collar, his look and his sound screams country cool.

His Bakersfield sound evident in his hits "Streets Of Bakersfield", "Honkytonk Man", and "Little Sister". Dwight draws musical influence from a deep well of California country sounds from Merle Haggard to his mentor and friend, Buck Owens.

A lean country heartbreaking machine, with that Elvis swagger and nasal twang that could get you on the dance floor, or crying into your beer, Dwight Yoakam was, and continues to be, a contemporary take on the classics with his own vibe that makes it all his own.

Perhaps the biggest compliment to his legacy is that there is nobody on the contemporary country music scene that even comes close to his unique sounds. Perhaps a few Jon Pardi songs are in the same zip code, but, still miles away.

A true multi-talented entertainer, Dwight Yoakam is also an actor with several memorial roles in movies like Slingblade, Red Rock West, and Panic Room. HIs California country cool meets Hollywood even went as far as a brief fling with actress Sharon Stone.

Legend has it, after they broke up, she compared kissing Dwight to "eating a dirt sandwich." That comment inspired him to write the song several songs including "Fast As You", "Ain't That Lonely Yet", and "Heart Of Stone".
